A mistake in Emma’s college schedule lead to the most beautiful Chandler Hill Vineyard Wedding. Emma Filson and Matt Huetter became friends their first semester of college in a freshman english class at University of Arkansas, a class she later found out she didn’t even need to take.
“Matt and I met freshman year of college in our very first month. We had English class together and become friends super quickly. We later learned that I was actually exempt from our English class, and wasn’t even supposed to be enrolled in it. This felt like a huge God moment!!! We were best friends until Christmas break when the inevitable happened and we realized there was more to us than just friendship. (Everyone else realized this from the beginning, we just needed a little more time). In April, we started dating and almost 8 years later we are married.”
“When Matt and I were just friends we each, on separate occasions, accidentally told each other we loved each other. When he was leaving my dorm one day I said “bye! love you!” and was genuinely mortified. Then, a week later, my friend was at Matt’s fraternity and called me saying “Matt has had a few drinks and keeps telling everyone he’s in love with you”. That made me feel better about my accidental proclamation the week before lol! Our friendship was so vital to how strong our marriage is now. No matter what, we were always drawn to each other, laughing, and having the best time!
Matt and Emma married at Chandler Hill Vineyard just outside of Saint Louis, Missouri on May 26, 2024 in the middle of a hail storm. “The first look was pretty special. I was worried about being anxious on our wedding day for various reasons, and when I woke up the morning of our wedding, I felt such a relieving sense of calm and excitement. Matt is generally super easy going and typically doesn’t struggle with nerves. At our first look, Matt was actually nervous- it almost felt like seeing someone on a first date!! It was so cute and being together in that moment made everything feel right. After that, it started storming so we all had to move inside. This ended up being so fun, because the whole bridal party got to hang out and celebrate together before the ceremony started. Once the ceremony was over, the sky cleared up and we got to dance outside. I loved going out into the vineyards to take photos after it had rained too. I really wouldn’t have changed a thing.”
