Rachel and Mac were on top of the world when they got married. Their Steamboat Springs Wedding was filled with guests from all over coming to celebrate the long awaited wedding, some waiting since elementary school.
Rachel Campbell and Mac Zafarana met at one of everyone’s favorite places, their kindergarten class. “We met in Kindergarten, were in school together until 2nd grade, then my family moved away. Through the years our families were always connected, my mom was his sister’s school counselor, and my cousin was best friends with his sister. We reconnected in high school through our love of art, and have been together for 10 years now.” When couples say they have been together forever, most of the time it isn’t really the case, but for Mac and Rachel, it is. The two went to SCAD together following high school and wed at Steamboat Spring’s Ski Club surrounded by their closest friends and family with a reception following at Steamboat Social Club. Rachel and Mac planned for an intimate wedding in June at Mountain Vista overlook. “We planned our entire wedding remotely”. Now living in Ohio and pursuing their artist careers with their dog, Stanley, famously known as the cute wiener dog who models for Abercrombie and Fitch. While the wedding went as perfectly planned as it could be (thanks to the thoughtful work of PLANNER), the proposal was a little less so, but still perfect in every way.
“Mac’s plan to propose was to get me to go to coffee, that morning though I slept past 10 am (which is extremely rare for me), woke up and decided I wanted to cancel coffee and just chill. I kept trying to get out of going because I wanted to go shopping with my sisters knowing I would see Mac for dinner. Eventually he talked me into going, and as I was getting ready I threw on leggings and a sweatshirt, threw my hair in a bun and wore my slippers out. My sisters tried to get me to dress up more but I actually said “It’s just Mac, I don’t need to be dressed up” To say I had no idea it was coming was an understatement, and I couldn’t get any words out except “Are you joking” after Mac proposed and was so shocked I don’t think we even kissed or hugged.”
Rachel recall’s a favorite memory of their Steamboat Springs wedding being coming up to the mountain top and seeing the florals. “Seeing our flowers and set up for the first time! [We] didn’t really know how everything was going to look, but it was beyond all my expectations what our florist did for us!”
